The Wall: Patience

Do you know what it feels like to hit a wall? To come to a point of desperation or need that makes you feel completely and utterly lost.
God's plan doesn't always match up with ours, and sometimes things happen that make us wonder what in the world He could possibly be thinking. Why can't that couple who has been trying for so long have a child? Or why is that precious child alone at Christmas? Why can't we get the job? Why are our relationships so broken? Why are our loved ones still away fighting for our country?

This is one of the most difficult things to grasp about Christianity; that God loves you enough to strip you down to the very core so that He can rebuild you in a way that makes you more like Him. It's not that the person you were before was bad, but that for some reason they are keeping us from knowing God the way we should.

Pete Wilson explains this so well in his book "Plan B". That's what happens at the wall. That's why it's so painful-because we are being stripped bare...there is a transformation from what we believe in our heads to a belief that permeates every fiber of our being...."The wall represents our will meeting God's will face to face...Fundamentally, it has to do with slowly breaking through the barriers we have built between our will and a newer awareness of God in our lives."

The sweetness in this truth is that God does have a purpose. That even though the wall is extremely painful and stretches us in ways we never knew, that there is meaning in it. And when you break through the wall and begin to see the light on the other side, it is a renewed sweetness and closeness with the LORD , greater than you could ever imagined!

I used to have this note posted on my mirror in college, "God has brought me to a tough place but He will surely carry me through with grace."

One more word of hope: "Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." Romans 8:24-25
